At 52 I discovered Art quite by accident! A year and a half before I had an emergency spinal surgery and while in the hospital I acquired a super bug in my lungs. This incapacitated me for a year and a half. Nine rounds of antibiotics and finally a PICC LINE placed in to my heart, I received IV antibiotics three times a day for five weeks. I decided to go to one of the paint nights at our local art centre, because I was still not feeling well I did not really enjoy it.

I have an agreement with myself that once I attempt something I will at least try it three times before I could say unequivocally that I am not fond of it! After the third session something changed in me. I started wanting to know more and more and how to use different brushes and get different effects with the paint. Within four months I sold my first painting and over the last 4 years I have come to a place where I can’t imagine my life without art. Coincidentally, I started healing the day I began doing art. So, could it have been the antibiotics, maybe, maybe all of that brought me to this new chapter in my life. I believe there is always a silver lining!
